Public Utilities

Water - Sewer - Electricity

The Town of Belhaven provides electricity, water and sewer services.  The members of the utility departments are trained to provide the best service to all of our utility customers, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

Utilities are billed based on the actual usage by each household or business.  Meters are read on a monthly basis.

Utility payments can be made in the drop box with check or money order. You may also choose to pay by bank draft, over the telephone, or by mail.

Important things to know about your utility account:

A Town employee (meter reader) will read your meter on or near the 20th of each month. You will receive your utility service bill around the 1st of the following month. Payment is due by the 15th of that same month. When the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, you have until the next business day after the 15th to pay without penalty. Penalty is 5% of the bill. PAYMENT by the DUE DATE will save you the cost of a penalty.

EXAMPLE:
July 20th Read meter
August 1st Bill received
August 15th Bill due without penalty (unless weekend or holiday)
August 16th 5% penalty imposed
September 5th Last day to pay August 1st bill to prevent cutoff (unless weekend or holiday)

Paying your bill by the due date will SAVE YOU MONEY! The Town will interrupt your utility service if payment not received by the 5th of the following month for any past due bill.

Thank you for allowing us to serve you.
